Water Closet

A project of the 2007 ArtWorks Summer Program
A Cincinnati Art Museum Partnership

  • Installation dates:  July 2007 – January 2008
  • At the Cincinnati Art Museum – 953 Eden Park Dr.  Cincinnati, OH 45202

The saying that there is no place like home seems to have held true in the Water Closet project. They had the novel and amusing (not to mention difficult) job of creating an art installation for the main bathrooms at the Cincinnati Art Museum. Though they brainstormed pages and pages of fascinating ideas, they decided to stick with what they know—nature and their neighborhoods. Thus was born Nature Calls.

With Apprentices hailing from locales as far flung as Dayton and Kentucky, they dreamed up images that spoke of their neighborhoods. From these images, art was created to look like topographical maps in the hues of reds and blues.  The installation will bring nature and color to the bathrooms through January 2008, so when nature does call, stop by the Art Museum and be sure to use the washroom!
