"Campy Washington"

- 3025 Colerain Ave. Cincinnati, OH 45225 in Camp Washington
- A project of the 2008 ArtWorks Summer Program
- In partnership with the Camp Washington Business Association and the Camp Washington Community
- Mural dedicated September 2008
Playing on the name of their neighborhood, the Camp Washington mural team decided to create a “campy” mural in Camp Washington. The mural sits at 45 feet tall and depicts George Washington’s head imposed upon a colonial-era woman’s body, complete with an elaborate pink dress and hand fan. Incorporated into the mural, are elements unique only to Camp Washington: an image of a cow that escaped from a slaughter house and roamed the neighborhood in 2003, a tin man from Jacobs Manufacturing, and a gorilla from Schenz Theatrical Supply, Inc. The frame of the mural is secured by bolts, painted to represent the industrial nature of the community’s business district. And in true Cincinnati fashion, a ring of flying pigs encircle Washington’s head.
