Clifton Mural

“A Window to the Past:  A Reflection of Ludlow”
A project of the 2007 ArtWorks Summer Program

  • Located at Keller’s IGA - 319 Ludlow Ave.  Cincinnati, OH 45220
  • Mural dedicated September 2007

Clifton Mural

Walking past the Keller’s IGA on Ludlow Avenue in Clifton, a new window might catch your eye.  Painted to both reflect the “street” and allow a glimpse into the grocery store, this mural shows a world that cannot be seen everyday. The image is of a reflected 1930s street, complete with streetcars and storefronts that used to line the street. One can see a meat market within the store, fashioned to look historic as well.

“I didn’t know it took so much work to create a mural!” exclaims Apprentice Chloe Williamson. This trompe l’oeil  style mural was probably the most complex mural painted this summer, the challenge: painting reflections, the illusion of glass and doing it all in reverse.  All of that hard work definitely paid off with the wonderful Clifton mural.
