"The Face of the Arts"

Downtown Mural

  • 101 W. Central Pkwy.  Cincinnati, OH 45202, Rothchild Law Office in Downtown Cincinnati
  • A project of the 2007 ArtWorks Summer Program
  • Mural dedicated August 2007

A bright and pastel gem that quite literally catches your eye as you look at it, the mural at the northern edge of Cincinnati’s Central Business District is made up of huge faces looking out from the glowing walls of Barry Rothchild’s law office building. Alongside these faces, striking different attitudes—looking up, down, to the side or at the onlooker—are silhouettes of figures in artistic poses. These figures dance or orate alongside the faces, creating an interesting and arts-related mural to reflect the lot where the School for the Creative and Performing Arts will someday have its new building.

This mural is also wonderful because each of the painted faces are those of ArtWorks Apprentices: faces who are devoted to the arts portrayed in this work.
