Over-The-Rhine Mural

“Over-the-Rhine:  Into its Renaissance”
A project of the 2008 ArtWorks Summer Program
  • 1519 Vine St.  Cincinnati, OH 45202
  • In partnership with Over-the-Rhine Community Housing and the Over-the-Rhine Community
  • Mural to be dedicated Fall 2008

Over the Rhine Mural

The Over-the-Rhine Mural, ArtWorks’ largest mural to date at 86 feet wide by 40 feet tall, encompasses elements of the past, present, and future of OTR.  Architectural details from buildings and old landmarks such as the Empire Theatre are present, as well as present-day hangouts like Tucker’s and Findlay Market.  Incorporated into the design are working hands, painting and planting—to represent OTR’s efforts to expand and create new opportunity for its residents.  Intermixed with all of these symbols are plants to represent organic growth and new life, to show Over-the-Rhine as a growing community, with new people and businesses coming into the neighborhood.
