ArtWorks’ first mural in Campbell County, Kentucky will be a gateway to Newport’s business district at the southern end of Monmouth and highly visible when driving north. We will be partnering with Art Machine, Inc., an organization that is focused on youth and creativity and that is the only visual art non-profit in Newport.
From left to right the mural features: An Image from a Kensington Art Tile, a Shawnee, a fur trapper, early settlers, General James Taylor, Army Barracks, E. Crawly – a prominent inventor of book binding machinery, Leon Lippert – a graduate from The Art Academy of Cincinnati, well respected local artist, and resident of Newport, Vincent Saint John –a prominent figure in the Labor movement and Newport native, Mildred Dean – highly respected for her dedication to education, and Stepin Fletchit – an international super star and performance innovator that frequented Newport. The foreground is decorated with native fauna and both native and introduced flora.
